A socio-political organization, **Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa**, consisting of influential leaders from Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa zones in Oyo State, has expressed its commitment to ensuring that a capable candidate from these regions emerges as the next governor of Oyo State in 2027.
The group, which is led by Chairman **Engr. Dauda Olaifa**, Secretary **Pastor Favour Adewoyin**, Adviser **Mr. Oladejo Ajuwon**, and Youth Leader **Dr. Jonathan Ojedokun**, made this declaration during a media briefing held in Iseyin. The event aimed to raise awareness about the association’s objectives and foster broader public understanding of their advocacy.
Operating under the slogan “O to ge, awa lokan,” meaning “Enough, it’s our turn,” the organization emphasized its non-partisan and non-religious stance. It was founded to address the perceived inequality and injustice stemming from the long-standing dominance of the Ibadan zone in Oyo State’s political landscape.
The association highlighted that for over 25 years, the political affairs of the state have been predominantly controlled by Ibadan, with the exception of one instance when the governorship shifted to Ogbomoso. The group called for a power shift through a rotation of the governorship seat, particularly toward the Oke-Ogun zone, as the 2027 elections approach.
In a formal statement, the group outlined that from 1999 to the present, all Oyo State governors have largely come from Ibadan, except for a brief period when Ogbomoso had representation. The association argues that it is time to break this cycle in favor of a more equitable distribution of political power across all zones in the state.
The representatives of **Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa** underscored their readiness to support the emergence of a qualified candidate from the marginalized zones, particularly Oke-Ogun, regardless of the candidate’s religious background, political affiliation, or gender. The group stressed that their alliance should not be seen as opposition to any particular region but as a call for fairness, justice, and mutual respect among all zones.
During the press conference, the leaders pledged to engage in meaningful dialogue and awareness campaigns to promote the association’s objectives. They also revealed their ongoing engagement with various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, and political figures, to address key issues such as voter inducement, political manipulation, and the divide-and-rule tactics often employed during elections.
Furthermore, the association urged the media to amplify their message and support their cause to bring about a fairer political system. The leaders also acknowledged Oke-Ogun’s historical support for Ibadan and urged the people of Ibadan and other zones to extend similar support to Oke-Ogun in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa, and other underrepresented zones are given a fair opportunity to lead the state, thereby fostering a more inclusive and just political environment for all of Oyo State.
