The Asa Local Government chapter of the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday witnessed another significant boost as the APC Leader in Asa Local Government and Executive Chairman of KWASUBEB, Professor Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, led other progressive leaders, members and stakeholders to welcome new decampees from opposition parties at Eiyenkorin and Budo-Oke communities in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The new members, who came mainly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other opposition parties, explained that their decision to join the APC was motivated by what they described as the good leadership and governance of His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, in Kwara State, as well as the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the federal level.
According to the decampees, the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Abdulrazaq have brought various benefits and developmental initiatives to the people, prompting them to identify with the progressive family.
At the event, the new members unanimously destroyed their former party membership insignias, symbolising their commitment to the APC. They also pledged to work faithfully for the progress and success of the party at all levels.
Speaking at the occasion, APC Chairman in Asa Local Government, Hon. Issa Abdullateef Oniyo, warmly welcomed the decampees into the party. He assured them of fairness, equal opportunity and inclusiveness, stressing that these remain core values and traditions of the progressive family.
Among the dignitaries present were Professor Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, Alhaji Mahmoud Turawa, Alhaji Ariyo, Hon. Abdulganiyu Abdulazeez Kola, Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Eji of Asa, Alhaji Hassan Eiyenkorin, and other party leaders, stakeholders and members.
Speaking on behalf of the new members, one of the decampees said the people of Asa Local Government were determined to support the progressive administration and called on residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and support all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The gathering further demonstrated the growing strength and unity of the APC in Asa Local Government, with the new members pledging their loyalty and commitment to the progressive family.
