The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr Zacch Adedeji; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; and Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, are among prominent political figures expected to headline the Oyo State Emerging Political Leaders Summit scheduled for August 24 and 25 in Ibadan.
The summit, which will take place at the Ibadan Civic Centre, is expected to bring together more than 1,000 emerging political leaders, grassroots mobilisers, community stakeholders, youth and women leaders, civil society actors and political stakeholders from across Oyo State.
Themed, “Bridging the Gap, Uniting Political Strength, and Mobilizing Emerging Leaders for 2027,” the summit is expected to focus on political reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation, generational inclusion and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The organisers said the event would provide a platform for political stakeholders across party lines to engage on issues affecting the state and explore strategies for strengthening political participation and grassroots coordination.
Adedeji, who will serve as Chief Facilitator, is expected to lead discussions on “Fiscal Renewal, Revenue Mobilization, and the Economic Future of Oyo State in the Context of Nigeria’s Progressive National Agenda.”
The session is expected to examine the implications of ongoing fiscal and economic reforms for Oyo State and the role of emerging political leaders in shaping sustainable economic development.
Barau will attend as Special Guest of Honour, while Wike is scheduled to deliver the keynote address titled “Bridging Political Divides, Building Strategic Alliances, and Mobilizing Oyo State for Progressive Victory in 2027.”
Wike’s address is expected to centre on political reconciliation, alliance-building and strategies for consolidating political strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
Other speakers listed for the summit include the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande; APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel; and the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, Ismael Ahmed.
Also expected to speak are Seyi Tinubu; Oloye Jumoke Akinjide; Chief Executive Officer of Ilaji Farms, Chief Dotun Sanusi; and Honourable Aderemi Abass Oseni.
The summit will also feature the launch of the 50 Below 50 Project, Oyo State Chapter, an initiative expected to promote greater participation of younger leaders in the political process.
Another major highlight will be the signing of a Generational Inclusion Pact by the APC 2027 governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, and emerging political leaders from across the state.
The organisers said participants would be drawn from the APC, PDP, APM and other political parties, as well as independent political mobilisers and community-based political actors.
They described the summit as an effort to reduce political fragmentation, promote reconciliation and create stronger networks among established and emerging political actors in the state.
According to the organisers, the gathering is also expected to stimulate conversations on generational transition, political inclusion and grassroots mobilisation, while providing a platform for stakeholders to build strategic alliances ahead of the 2027 elections.
