The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to investing in the education sector and tackling the menace of out-of-school children across the state. This resolve was further demonstrated through the donation of school uniforms, classroom furniture, and writing materials to pupils of Kanbi Hausa LGEA Primary School in Moro Local Government Area.

Speaking during the presentation of the items on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Professor Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, directed the immediate intervention after reports revealed the alarming number of out-of-school children in the Kanbi Hausa community.

Professor Adaramaja explained that the Governor’s proactive response underscores his administration’s determination to provide every Kwara child with access to quality and inclusive education, especially in rural communities. He noted that the intervention forms part of the government’s broader effort to boost school enrolment and learning outcomes through improved infrastructure and welfare support.

“The Enrollment Drive Committee of Kwara SUBEB earlier reported that many children in Kanbi Hausa were not attending school. Upon informing His Excellency, he directed us to ensure that every child in the community is enrolled immediately,” Adaramaja stated. “When we visited about five weeks ago, the school had just 178 pupils. Today, that number has risen to 672, and the Governor has further approved school uniforms, new classrooms, and early childhood furniture to support them.”

He disclosed that the construction of additional classrooms had commenced and would be completed within three weeks. The items delivered to the school include 90 sets of chairs and tables, 350 ready-made school uniforms with hijabs, 750 packs of exercise books, and writing materials such as biros and pencils.

Commending the Governor’s swift action, the Seriki Hausa of Kanbi Community, Mallam Muhammadu Muazu, expressed profound gratitude to the state government for prioritizing the educational future of their children. He described education as the most valuable inheritance any government can give its citizens, adding that the gesture would have far-reaching impacts on the community’s development.

“Nothing is more precious than acquiring sound education,” Muazu said. “When people lack education, they become vulnerable to social vices. But when educated, they contribute positively to society. We sincerely thank Governor AbdulRazaq for this rare commitment to our people. May God continue to strengthen him.”

Also speaking, the Magaji Kanbi Yoruba, Alhaji Usman Adisa, lauded the administration for its transformational education reforms, noting that the state’s schools have witnessed unprecedented improvement under Governor AbdulRazaq. He equally commended Prof. Adaramaja and his team for their dedication to executing the government’s education agenda.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chairperson of Moro Local Government (represented by the Council Secretary, Hon. Salihu Lawal Ayanshola); Hon. Medinat Raheem, Member representing Shao/Oloru/Malete Constituency; Hon. Ramat Adelodun, Member representing Ipaye/Lanwa/Ejidongari Constituency; and the Speaker, Moro Legislative Council. Others present were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Interparty Affairs, Hon. Moshood Alaka; KWSUBEB Board Secretary, Mrs. Gloria Adebisi; and key Directors of the Board, among other stakeholders in the education sector.

The Kwara State Government reaffirmed that the ongoing interventions across schools are part of the Governor AbdulRazaq administration’s holistic education reform agenda aimed at ensuring that no child is left behind, regardless of their background or location.
