A major political milestone was reached this weekend as the Kwara Progressive Patriots (KPP), a respected socio-political group with broad grassroots reach, formally endorsed Alhaji Tajudeen Abdulkadir Audu, the Makama of Lafiagi, as the most competent and unifying candidate to succeed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, in 2027.

The endorsement followed a two-day high-level interactive session hosted by the KPP’s strategic leadership, during which critical consultations were held with traditional rulers, political stakeholders, youth leaders, women groups, and community influencers across Kwara South. The deliberations, which took place on Thursday and Friday, were aimed at identifying a candidate who embodies continuity, integrity, and the administrative vision needed to consolidate on the current administration’s laudable achievements.

In a joint statement signed by the Chairman of the group, Deacon Samuel D. Adekeye, and the Secretary General, Hon. Ibrahim Lawal, the KPP said the unanimous choice of Alh. Tajudeen Audu was a product of rigorous review and strategic analysis that placed his pedigree, leadership ethos, and capacity far above his contemporaries in the evolving 2027 governorship conversation.

The group described Alhaji Audu as a rare blend of traditional honor and technocratic excellence—one whose public service and development track record demonstrate maturity, prudence, and forward-looking governance. As a chartered accountant with decades of experience in financial and administrative management, Alh. Audu brings to the table a reputation for competence, transparency, and fiscal discipline, qualities that mirror and complement the legacy of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

According to the KPP, Alhaji Audu’s eight-year tenure as President of the Lafiagi Development Union (LADDU) offered a preview of his visionary leadership style—grassroots-centered, accountable, and rooted in the values of service. Under his stewardship, LADDU witnessed an era of renewed community focus, empowerment programmes, and strategic collaboration with traditional institutions and youth-led organizations. It is this proven experience that KPP believes will enable him to not only sustain but significantly exceed the legacies of the current administration, particularly in the areas of infrastructural consolidation, civil service reform, rural development, and community inclusion.

The group also emphasized that Alhaji Audu is not merely a candidate of Kwara North, but a pan-Kwaran statesman who has consistently reached across the three senatorial districts in the spirit of unity, inclusivity, and dialogue. His recent engagements with leaders from Central and Southern zones, and his persistent calls for intra-party harmony within the APC, have positioned him as a bridge builder and consensus seeker—traits desperately needed in the complex political climate ahead of 2027.

KPP further highlighted that with the growing call for political equity and power rotation, it is both logical and just for the next governorship to emerge from Kwara North, a region that has historically been marginalized in terms of executive leadership. In this regard, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu stands out not only as the most qualified northerner, but also as a candidate whose candidature will send a strong signal of justice, unity, and shared ownership of the Kwara project.

In what appears to be a strategic masterstroke, KPP’s internal SWOT analysis presented Audu as a front-runner with the key strengths required to lead Kwara into a new era of pragmatic governance. His strong grassroots appeal, professional background, philanthropic track record, and bipartisan engagements give him broad electoral viability. While concerns over past party realignments exist, the group insists these pale in comparison to his credentials and the moral clarity he has displayed throughout his public life.

KPP acknowledged the presence of other capable aspirants within the political ecosystem, but maintained that none match the blend of experience, discipline, maturity, and technocratic insight that Alhaji Audu brings to the table. The group called on all well-meaning Kwarans—especially within the APC—to rally behind a man who represents the aspirations of both the elite and the grassroots, and who has demonstrated the vision and humility to govern with empathy and competence.

In conclusion, the Kwara Progressive Patriots reaffirmed their total support for Alhaji Tajudeen Abdulkadir Audu as the next Governor of Kwara State. They described him as a man whose time has come—a servant-leader prepared to move the state from progress to prosperity, and from development to durable transformation.

> “He is not only prepared to inherit the legacy of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; he is poised to expand it beyond expectations,” the statement reads. “With him, Kwara’s next level is not a dream. It is a guarantee”, the statement concluded.
