The Forum of Zonal Youth Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to reconciliation, inclusiveness, and unity as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting on August 23, 2025, the forum commended the Ambassador Ilya Damagum–led National Working Committee (NWC) for steering the affairs of the party with resilience. The youth leaders also specially appreciated Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary, for his capacity and commitment to the growth and stability of the PDP, while praising the collective efforts of other NWC members.

The forum further hailed the support of PDP Governors, under the leadership of H.E. Bala Mohammed, and appreciated the reconciliation efforts of former Senate President, H.E. Bukola Saraki, and former Gombe State Governor, H.E. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.

The youth leaders emphasized the importance of reconciliation across all warring factions and called for greater harmonization at ward, state, and zonal levels to strengthen the PDP’s unity. They further appealed to the party’s leadership to ensure that youths are fully integrated into both Northern and Southern political strategies of the party.

A major resolution of the forum was a directive to all state youth leaders to focus on voters’ register mobilization in their respective states. The communiqué noted that a date would soon be communicated, following the NEC meeting, for a robust engagement with the National Youth Leader to chart a new pathway for the PDP youth structure.

The youth leaders also called on the NWC to conclude all outstanding congresses across the zones to guarantee a smooth and hitch-free national convention. They stressed the need for inclusive planning of the convention to demonstrate the PDP’s readiness, strength, and capacity as Nigerians look to the party as a credible alternative in 2027.

The forum urged all PDP members and stakeholders to remain committed to the unity of the party, while reassuring Nigerian youths that the PDP remains the only viable opposition party capable of rescuing the country from the current economic hardship.

The statement was signed by Comrade Seyi Bamidele, Chairman, Forum of PDP Zonal Youth Leaders.
