As the world continues to embrace digital transformation, the recent directive by the Federal Government of Nigeria, urging the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to transit its exams to Computer-Based Testing (CBT), signals a clear move toward the future. In alignment with this vision, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, the lawmaker representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, has completed a state-of-the-art computer laboratory at Igboora Grammar School, Oke Ayin, Igboora. This project aims to boost digital literacy, improve students’ academic performance, and raise awareness of global educational trends within the constituency.

The facility, which was facilitated by Hon. Adepoju in February this year, was constructed by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) through the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

The Digital Learning Centre is fully equipped with modern furniture and digital tools, including desktop computers (each with a keyboard and mouse), air conditioners for climate control, solar-powered lighting for uninterrupted power supply, a touchscreen teaching monitor for interactive learning, fans, central processing units, printers, photocopiers, and other essential equipment.

Officials from NITDA, who are experts in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), also provided training for a number of the school’s teachers in the protective, preventive, and corrective maintenance of the centre.

Expressing his gratitude, the school principal, Mr. Taiwo Obe, commended Hon. Adepoju for the laudable project, stating that its impact would be immediate and far-reaching. He noted that the facility would not only enhance computer literacy in the community but also serve as a hub for skill acquisition, research, and innovation.

In his remarks, Hon. Adepoju emphasized that the project aligns with His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde’s roadmap for sustainable development. He explained that his efforts are meant to complement the developmental strides of his mentor, particularly in the areas of education and digital empowerment for the people of Oyo State.

As the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character, Hon. Adepoju also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria for enabling him to facilitate the project in his constituency.

He, however, urged the school authorities and members of the public, who are the primary beneficiaries of the centre, to utilize the facility responsibly to ensure it fulfills its intended purpose.
