Kwara State is set to boost the capacity of its basic education workforce as the Universal Basic Education Board (KW-SUBEB), in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), begins a new round of training for teachers and school heads.

The training, which will run for 10 days, will bring together 224 Early Childhood Care Development Education (ECCDE) teachers and 240 heads of Universal Basic Education (UBE) schools from all 16 Local Government Education Authorities in the state.

The programme, tagged Early Childhood Care Development Education, will be conducted in two phases — from September 29 to October 3, and October 6 to October 10, 2025 — between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily. Sessions will hold at Bishop Smith Junior Secondary School Hall, Queen Elizabeth School Hall, and St. Barnabas School Hall, all in Ilorin.

With 464 participants in attendance, the training will focus on Effective Implementation of ECCDE Curriculum Policies and Effective School Management Skills for Enhancing Quality Basic Education Delivery.

According to the organisers, the initiative is part of Kwara’s education reform agenda, which places strong emphasis on continuous teacher training as a way of improving classroom performance, strengthening learning outcomes, and laying a more solid foundation for children in the state.
