Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for greater intra-African trade and cooperation, highlighting the continent’s potential to drive its own development.

Speaking after a meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame on the eve of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Tinubu expressed optimism about Africa’s future, urging leaders to unite for the benefit of their citizens and the broader continent.

In a post shared on his official social media platforms, Tinubu emphasized the importance of African nations leveraging their abundant resources and human capital to foster growth.

“Africa has what it takes to develop itself. We have the resources, the people, and the capacity,” Tinubu stated.

He stressed the need for African countries to focus inwardly to boost intra-African trade and collaboration, which would, in turn, benefit the people and the continent as a whole. “The time for Africa is now,” he added.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, an annual global platform focused on sustainable development, provided an ideal setting for such important discussions.

The meeting between Tinubu and Kagame underscores the growing recognition of Africa’s central role in global sustainability efforts.

As the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week kicks off, the spotlight is likely to shine on Africa’s role in shaping a sustainable future for the planet, with Tinubu’s call for unity and self-reliance setting the stage for broader dialogues among global leaders.
